Sanju Samson Out Or Not? Close Call By Umpire Irks Star Batter, Refuses To Leave In RR vs DC IPL 2024 Match
The Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals IPL 2024 match saw a controversial moment surrounding the dismissal of Sanju Samson. The Rajasthan Royals batter was on 86, and leading RR’s 222-run chase in fine fashion vs DC, when he was caught by Shai Hope off Mukesh Kumar. It was a tight catch as Hope was almost on the boundary line. The third umpire gave it a out but Sanju Samson refused to leave. He kept talking with the on-field umpires, even as DC owner Parth Jindal kept shouting ‘Out hain’. Reluctantly, as Samson was walking back, the RR dugout suggested that he might review that decision. However, it was not to be as he walked off.
Later, former India cricket and expert on Star Sports, Varun Aaron said: “I think from the angles shown, it looked like a fair catch.

Earlier, in the match, Rajasthan Royals legbreak spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on Tuesday etched his name in the history books by becoming the first Indian to achieve the landmark of 350 wickets in the T20 format. Chahal achieved the feat against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
In his 301st T20 match, DC skipper Rishabh Pant became his 350th victim in T20 format. The left-handed batter went down and tried to place his shot across the field.
Pant mistimed his shot due to a lack of balance and sent it straight towards deep backward square leg in Trent Boult‘s safe hands.
As Chahal rejoiced to celebrate his 350th T20 wicket, Pant walked back towards the dugout with a score of 15(13).
Overall, former West Indies all-rounder DJ Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of cricket with a whopping tally of 625 in 573 matches.
Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan is in the second spot with 572 wickets to his name in 424 matches. The third spot is held by Kolkata Knight Riders in-form all-rounder Sunil Narine. The experienced star has 549 wickets in 509 games.
Chahal is the fifth spinner to claim 350 wickets in the T20 format. Rashid Khan (572), Sunil Narine (549), Imran Tahir (502) and Shakib Al Hasan (482) are ahead of him.
Coming to the DC’s clash against RR, the 33-year-old spinner proved to be expensive as he finished his four-over spell with a wicket and gave away 48 runs at an economy of 12.00.
DC posted a mammoth total of 221/8 following explosive knocks from Jake Fraser McGurk, Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs.

City can win the title even if they lose their match if Arsenal draw or loses their last game against Everton as City currently have 88 points while Arsenal have 86. If City are held to a draw by West Ham and Arsenal win their match, both teams will have 89 points but Arsenal will end up winning the league title thanks to a superior Goal Difference.
Arsenal
The situation for Arsenal is very simple. Win their match against Everton and hope that City drop points against West Ham. A win will take Arsenal to 89 points and that will be enough if City fail to win their match. However, a draw or a loss will be the end of Arsenal’s title hopes. If they win the match and City draw with West Ham, Mikel Arteta‘s side will clinch the title on Goal Difference.
Any chance for Liverpool?
Liverpool are completely out of the title race as they are 9 points behind Manchester City and 7 points behind second-placed Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp will be leading Liverpool in his final game and irrespective of how they fare against Wolves, they will end up finishing third in the Premier League this season.
