India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has praised the Indian Army for carrying out ‘Operation Sindoor’, a strong action taken after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. In his social media post, Jaishankar made it clear that India will never tolerate terrorism and will always respond to protect its people.
The Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, killed 28 civilians, many of them Hindu tourists. In response, the Indian Army struck nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which were linked to dangerous groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba—groups responsible for attacks on India in the past.
Jaishankar also talked to foreign ministers from Spain, France, Germany, Japan, and Qatar, explaining India’s actions and asking for support in the fight against terrorism.
Why the Name ‘Operation Sindoor’?
The name ‘Sindoor’ has a special meaning. Sindoor is the red powder worn by married Hindu women. It’s a symbol of love and protection, which makes it a meaningful name to honor those who died in the Pahalgam attack.
India has taken strong actions like this before. After the Uri attack in 2016, where 19 soldiers were killed, India carried out surgical strikes. Again, after the Pulwama attack in 2019, which killed 40 soldiers, India carried out airstrikes on a terror camp in Balakot.
Jaishankar’s message shows India’s determination to stand strong against terrorism and protect its people. The world is now being urged to come together to fight terrorism and support efforts to keep peace.
