At least seven people, including a woman and two children, have been killed, and 38 others are injured after the Pakistan Army shelled civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Poonch district was hit the hardest, with homes and even a gurdwara getting damaged by the shelling.

This attack comes after India’s Operation Sindoor, where the Indian Army targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India launched these strikes in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 civilians.

Tensions Between India and Pakistan

The situation has caused panic among people living in areas like Poonch, Uri, and Tangdhar, where many are taking shelter in bunkers or moving to safer places. The shelling has made people even more fearful of cross-border violence.

This isn’t the first time tensions between India and Pakistan have flared up. After the Uri attack in 2016, where 19 Indian soldiers were killed, India carried out surgical strikes across the border. In 2019, following the Pulwama attack that killed 40 soldiers, India responded with airstrikes on a terrorist camp in Balakot.

Pakistan has condemned India’s actions, claiming that its civilians were affected by the strikes. Both countries are dealing with the difficult task of protecting their people while managing rising tensions.
