After India’s airstrikes during Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, some people started saying that Pakistan shot down Indian fighter jets, including a Rafale. But the Indian government’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) quickly cleared things up, saying these claims were not true.
The PIB explained that the pictures and videos going around on social media were either old or changed. One picture that was shared a lot actually showed an old crash of a MiG-21 in Punjab from 2021, not a Rafale jet.
What Happened in the Media?
Pakistani leaders, including Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, said India lost several jets. But when he was on live TV, the host pointed out there was no real proof to back up these claims.
Similar Fake News Before
This isn’t the first time this has happened. Back in 2019, after the Pulwama attack, Pakistan also claimed to have shot down Indian jets. India had to release videos and official statements to show the truth then too.
The PIB has asked people to be careful about what they believe and share online, especially when it comes to unproven news. They also reminded everyone to follow official government sources for the right information.
