CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju shares new ideas that question the usual idea of Altcoin Season..

CryptoQuant CEO Discusses Changing Altcoin Season

According to Ju, new rules for crypto and more businesses using crypto have changed how money moves in the market. He says these changes stop the usual big rise in smaller altcoins that we used to see during Altcoin Season.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Ki compared the old altcoin season to a rainy season that has now disappeared.

“Redefining Altseason. The old altcoin season cycle is no longer working. What I mean is, like climate change, the rainy season is gone, and now we only get a few small drizzles,” Ki explained.

Ki Young Ju explained that Bitcoin no longer controls where money goes in the crypto market because big companies are now involved and there are new rules. Instead of money going into smaller, risky altcoins, it mostly goes into stablecoins or bigger altcoins that are more accepted.

Even though he talked about an altcoin season while there are some problems with money flow, Ki quickly made it clear that the time when all altcoins grew a lot at once is over. He says we’ll now see a “selective altseason,” where only a few altcoins will do well. He pointed out three things that could help altcoins in 2025: the possible approval of ETFs for altcoins, projects that keep people interested, and projects that make money.

He also said, “Most altcoins won’t make it,” which is different from past times when almost all altcoins went up in price.

“The time when everything goes up is over. It’s a selective altseason—most altcoins won’t make it,” Ki added.

Recently, market trends showed that Ki’s idea of a selective altcoin season is right. Some altcoins, like XRP, made more money than Bitcoin last week. Certain big altcoins like Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH) also did well. This shows that investors are now focusing on well-known altcoins with solid growth, not smaller, riskier ones.

Ki also talked about the struggles with money flow in the crypto market. He said it’s like a “PvP fight,” where money moves between different assets instead of new money coming into the market.

This shows that big companies now have more control, focusing on stable investments rather than risky altcoins. With these companies in control, the days of all altcoins rising quickly because of regular traders are probably over.
