Rob Rinder on ‘tragedy’ he’s glad his grandfather didn’t live to see

Published

Rob Rinder previously joked how he was pleased his late grandfather didn’t live to see him appear on the Great British Bake Off.

Back in 2020, Rob joined several other famous faces go head over to the famous tent and whip up some baked delights, in a bid to raise money for charity. For the celeb special, Rob was joined by the likes of Kelly Brook and Carol Vorderman.

And speaking ahead of his stint on the show, Rob – who is on Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby today (October 27) – firmly insisted that he couldn’t bake.

So much so, that he said he was glad his baker grandfather “didn’t live” to see him on the hit show.

Rob Rinder on Bake Off

On The Great British Bake Off, the celeb bakers were tasked to make a signature sandwich biscuit, a sweet bread and a cake showstopper revealing their favourite guilty pleasure.

As usual, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were on hand to taste and share their thoughts on the celebs’ baked delights.

However, before his stint, and speaking to Channel 4, contestant Rob branded himself as a “minus 10” when it came to his baking skills.

Rob Rinder ‘doesn’t use oven to cook’

“I do genuinely use my oven for storage. I don’t mean socks, it’s got baking trays in it, but it’s mainly for visual effects,” Rob told Channel 4 in 2020. He added: “I have no transferable skills.”

And it turns out he didn’t inherit the baker genes, as his beloved father was a baker.

When asked if Rob has a signature dish, he replied: “Oh no! The tragedy of it is my grandfather, who I made a programme about, was a baker.

“He used to make these amazing biscuits at 5 o’clock in the morning. There’s no genetic inheritance whatsoever. None of it. All I can say is thank god he didn’t live to see this.”

Baking is not a skill Rob ‘wants to get good at’

As for which judge he wanted to impress more, Rob admitted: “If they said I’d made something that tasted good, I can’t lie, I’d have a moment.

“I want to impress them both. Only insofar as I want to get invited round to their house so they can cook for me. You want to collect those sorts of friends. But other than that, I’m not too fussed. It’s not a skill I want to get good at.

“It’s the most stressful thing. People talk about baking being zen-like, some species of yoga. Absolute nonsense. Give me a cryptic crossword any day.”

Watch Rob on Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby on Sunday (October 27) at 5:10pm on BBC Two.

Billy hallucinated Paul in tonight’s Coronation Street (Wednesday, November 6), as he risked freezing to death outside of the factory.

After listening to old voice messages from Paul, Billy’s phone battery started to drain as he sobbed outside of the factory in a drunken state.

As Billy starts to hallucinate his late husband, here’s all we know about whether we’ll see Paul on screen again.

Coronation Street: Paul Foreman’s ‘return’

This evening, Bernie gathered Paul’s loved ones in the Rovers to watch the video of Paul’s ashes being sent up into space.

Billy got angry whilst in a drunken state, thinking that the whole event was tacky. He then pulled out the lead to the laptop and ruined the video for everyone before announcing that he tried to kiss Todd on the day of Paul’s funeral.

Burning bridges with Paul’s family, Billy then headed off into the night as he listened to old voice messages from Paul behind the factory.

Starting to freeze, Billy then started to hallucinate Paul as Peter Ash’s character returned to our screens in a surprise twist.

The episode ended with Paul standing over Billy, telling him to ‘get up’ or he’d freeze to death.

Paul will ‘return’ once more

Viewers will know that Paul sadly passed away from MND at the start of September this year. Billy sadly didn’t make it to the hospital in time to say a final goodbye though.

Now, Billy’s not coping with Paul’s death well at all. Finding out that Paul had already passed when he made a final phone call to him, Billy’s also had to deal with his half of Paul’s ashes being stolen by a guy called Wayne.

Drunk, Billy hallucinated Paul tonight. But, this won’t be the last we’ll see of him.

Paul will ‘return’ in hallucination form once again in Friday’s episode (November 8), as reported by Digital Spy.

Peter Ash’s return as Paul was kept out of spoilers to surprise fans. But, will Paul’s ‘presence’ help Billy before it’s too late?

Published

In EastEnders, Reiss confessed to Bianca tonight (Wednesday, November 6), that he was the one to kill Debbie Colwell – his comatose wife.

He then took Bianca to a lock-up where he told her that the murder evidence was kept… But, then the end of the episode saw Reiss go to smother Bianca with a blanket.

But, is Bianca dead? Has Reiss killed another person as his life unravels further?

EastEnders: Reiss confessed the truth to Bianca

Tonight in Walford, Bianca rumbled Reiss on the CCTV doing something dodgy which made her ask Reiss what he was hiding from the night Debbie died.

Reiss started to tell her that he didn’t kill Debbie but it all became too much for him, leading him to confess the truth.

He then tried to guilt trip Bianca into feeling bad for him, suggesting that he killed Debbie out of mercy.

Bianca begged him to go to the police so that Sonia could be freed, with Reiss telling her that he had the murder evidence – the pillow – in a lock-up nearby. The police had a ‘different’ pillow.

Taking Bianca to the lock-up, Reiss locked the door behind them and brought out a blanket. He then approached Bianca, ready to smother her with it…

Has Reiss killed Bianca in EastEnders?

Bianca’s not long returned to Walford but if Reiss gets his way, then her days may just be numbered.

Reiss is desperate to keep Debbie’s murder truth a secret, and really doesn’t want to go to prison. And, that may just mean silencing Bianca.

Whilst Bianca was cornered by a sinister Reiss tonight who had the intention of killing her, she was armed with a weapon of her own.

Will she strike back before Reiss finishes her off? Or, has Reiss claimed another victim?
