NASA has shared a frightening footage of Hurricane Helene shot from the International Space Station (ISS). The video, captured from an altitude of over 400 km, clearly shows the eye of the Hurricane which made landfall in Florida Friday morning.
“The International Space Station flew over Hurricane Helene at 2:25 p.m. EDT Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, as it approached the Gulf Coast of Florida packing winds in excess of 120 miles an hour,” the video shared by station’s X profile was captioned.

The Hurricane, which is now a category 4 storm, hit Florida’s Big Bend region a few hours ago today with winds over 225 km per hour. It has now proceeded into Georgia where three people have reportedly died due to weather related events.

Several incredible videos of the Hurricane has been posted by weather trackers displaying the intensity of the storm. Many social media users are also posting pictures and videos of the property damage the rains and winds have caused.

The National Weather Service in the U.S. has warned the residents of long-duration power outages in Georgia and the Carolinas, advising them not to venture outside and stay indoors.
The storm has also led to the delay of NASA’s Crew-9 mission which was scheduled to lift off on September 26. It will now take off on September 28 at 10:47 pm IST. Crew-9 includes two astronauts who are flying to space to bring astronauts back Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore.
