‘Biggest Cricket Fan’ The Great Khali Meets Rohit Sharma, Has A Message For Pakistan. Watch
Meanwhile, Khali also had a message for the Pakistan cricket team.
Khali also shared an Instagram story in which he was seen wearing the ‘Biggest Cricket Fan’ tag.
The Indian team’s worries ahead of its opening World Cup game against Australia have been compounded with in-form Shubman Gill suspected to be suffering from dengue and the batter is a doubtful starter for Sunday’s match against Australia.
Ishan Kishan could open the innings in case Gill is ruled out. The BCCI is yet to confirm the nature of the illness.
“He’s under the weather, the medical team is closely monitoring him. We are hoping he gets better soon. We will have to wait on more updates from the medical team,” a medical update from BCCI stated.
Gill, India’s most prolific batter in ODIs in recent times, is reportedly down with high fever and will be tested for dengue on Friday before a final call is taken on the matter.
The recovery from dengue normally takes 7-10 days for a player to be match-fit again. However, if there is a significant drop in the platelet count, it could take much more time.
While Gill could be a non-starter against Australia, there is a high chance that he won’t play against Afghanistan (October 11) and Pakistan (October 14) in case the recovery takes more time.
Gill, who has scored 1,200 runs this season, has forged a successful opening stand with skipper Rohit Sharma of late. If he is absent for a long period of time, it could well be a big setback for the Indian team.

Pakistan vs England: PCB Takes Massive Decision Amid Growing Controversy Over Multan Pitch
Pakistan take on England in the second Test match in Multan© AFP
Under-pressure Pakistan are set to re-use the controversial Multan pitch used for the first Test against England for the second match starting Tuesday, in a rare move as they seek to level the series. England scored the fourth highest Test score of 823-7 to inflict an innings and 47-run defeat on the home side on a pitch severely criticised for its batting-friendly nature. Pakistan scored 556 in their first innings. Sources in the Pakistan camp confirmed the same first Test pitch will be used on Tuesday. “We have decided to use the same pitch of the first Test and it is watered and being dried for the use,” said a source who did not wish to be named.
Industrial-sized fans were used at both ends to dry the pitch while both teams practised at the ground on Sunday.
Pakistan skipper Shan Masood and head coach Jason Gillespie inspected the pitch and had a lengthy discussion, while England head coach Brendon McCullum also had a long look.
The ICC playing conditions allow re-use of a pitch for successive Tests, but it could result in getting a poor rating if the surface does not play well.
Pakistan has a history of flat pitches, with former Australian great Dennis Lillee denouncing a pitch as “bowlers’ graveyard” back in 1980.
Two years ago, the Rawalpindi stadium pitch was deemed “below average” by the International Cricket Council, after 1,187 runs were scored in a Pakistan-Australia Test for the loss of only 14 wickets.
But the ICC rescinded the one demerit point after the Pakistan Cricket Board appealed against the decision.

‘Kalyan Chaubey Is Damaging The IOA’: Bhaichung Bhutia’s Explosive Claim On AIFF President
PT Usha, the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), has recently levelled accusations against All India Football Federation president (AIFF) Kalyan Chaubey for “impersonating as the acting CEO of the IOA” and for issuing an “unauthorised agenda” for Special General Meeting (SGM). In an exclusive telephonic conversation with IANS, former India forward, Bhaichung Bhutia claimed that the credibility of the AIFF has taken a huge hit during Chaubey’s tenure and he “feels sorry” for the IOA and its president.
“I feel sorry for PT Usha ma’am and the IOA. We have all seen what Kalyan Chaubey has done to the football federation. The credibility of the federation has taken a huge hit during his tenure. We have never had our lawyers and general secretary accuse the president of corruption. He has made many decisions, like pulling out as Asia Cup hosts and awarding it to Saudi Arabia, taking the Santosh Trophy to Saudi Arabia as well. He then makes statements like the North Eastern players are too short and we’re looking at tall players from Rajasthan.
“These are all very dumb statements that he’s making. He’s already ruined the Football Federation, and now he’s trying to damage the Indian Olympic Association as well. We’ve never had such negative publicity before that has happened under Kalyan. I saw that he is also involved with the IOA, acting as the CEO of the IOA, which is very unfortunate,” Bhaichung told IANS.
According to the IOA president’s allegations, Kalyan issued a circular on official IOA letterhead, listing 26 agenda items for the SGM to be held on October 25. One of the items was a vote of no confidence against Usha and signed it as IOA’s joint secretary and acting CEO. Usha went on to declare that Chaubey does not hold the acting CEO’s post.
Bhaichung, a pillar of Indian football who donned the national team jersey for 16 years, went on to add that with many allegations of corruption shadowing his reign as the president of the federation, Chaubey “should step down” from his post and call for elections.
“You have a lawyer (Nilanjan Bhattacharjee) of the federation accusing him of corruption; you have the former general secretary (Shaji Prabhakaran), who was appointed by you and then removed within a couple of months, putting serious accusations on the president. When you have those kinds of allegations, it’s time to step down, accept the new constitutions, and call the elections,” added the former striker.
AIFF’s former principal legal advisor Nilanjan Bhattacharjee previously made serious “corruption allegations” against AIFF chief. In a letter adressed to PM Narendra Modi, he raised his concerns, which said Chaubey worked out “corruption avenues” through the non-transparent tender process and preferential allotment of tender and made attempts to “syphon off money from the federation’s exchequer” and used the AIFF fund for personal expenses. The legal head’s contract was later terminated by Chaubey.

‘Cameron Green’s Injury Can Make Way For…’: Ex-Australia Skipper’s Take On BGT vs India

Former Australia skipper Mark Taylor feels that all-rounder Cameron Green’s injury could open up the door for Cameron Bancroft’s Test recall in the marquee Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India next month. Green is likely to miss the upcoming five-match Test series against India at home due to a surgery for a stress fracture on his lower back, according to reports. The 25-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder has previously suffered four stress fractures in his back but has not encountered any issues in that area since 2019.
Green’s absence would mean Australia will have to rejig their batting order.
“It’s an awkward one isn’t it? Cam Green was out of the Australian side during the Ashes series of last year and Mitch Marsh came in but Australia were very keen to get him back in,” Taylor said on ‘Wide World of Sports’.
Bancroft was tipped to fill the opening spot post David Warner’s retirement earlier this year but the selectors recalled Green to the Test side with Steve Smith being pushed to open the innings.
However, the veteran batter didn’t fare too well at the top and Taylor believes Smith will again drop down to the number four spot.
“I think Smith will move back to No.4. So the question is who will open? I’d love to see a right-handed opening batsman get the opportunity. And to me at the moment … I would have Bancroft penciled in alongside (Usman) Khawaja,” Taylor said.
Bancroft, who served a nine-month ban for his role in the 2018 ball-tampering incident, has been the leading run-scorer in the Sheffield Shield for the last two years.
Taylor feels the selectors could also include young opener Sam Konstas, who hit back-to-back hundreds against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield, in the Test squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
The five-match series starts on November 22 in Perth.
