Get ready for a moon mission with a touch of high fashion! ‘Prada,’ the famous Italian fashion brand is teaming up with Axiom to create space suits for the 2025 Moon expedition.
Axiom in their official statement highlighted that Prada’s involvement in the project brings a wealth of knowledge in materials and manufacturing. Prada has taken on the task of creating the lunar spacesuits for NASA’s Artemis III mission set to take place in 2025.
Prada’s experts will collaborate closely with the Axiom Space Systems team to create special materials and design elements. These will safeguard the astronauts from any challenges they might face in space and on the Moon such as harsh environments and conditions.
According to Professor Jeffrey Hoffman, who’s been on five NASA missions, Prada knows a lot about different kinds of strong fabrics. He thinks Prada could help make the outer part of the new spacesuit more advanced and technical, he told BBC.
However, he also mentioned that we shouldn’t anticipate astronauts wearing stylish paisley or fancy patterned spacesuits. The most crucial factor is maintaining a suitable temperature inside the spacesuit for their safety and comfort.
