Linda Nolan shares health update as cancer ‘moves in’

Published

on

Singer Linda Nolan has shared a health update with fans amid her ongoing battle with cancer.

Earlier this year, Linda revealed that her cancer had metastasised to her brain. After they found a tumour on the left side, she suffered from balance loss and has been using a wheelchair.

Now, in her new column for The Mirror, Linda has revealed that her cancer has “moved in”, saying: “We’re flatmates now.”

The star revealed recently that she’s been suffering with problems with her balance caused by the brain cancer. And now she’s issued a further update to fans, revealing she’s “failed” to find any balance this week.

“It’s been a week for trying to find balance. And I’ve failed. Cancer may have moved in, we’re flatmates now, but I still rarely get the compromise right. I’m surprised it’s not leaving me notes on the fridge,” she said.

Cancer may have moved in, we’re flatmates now, but I still rarely get the compromise right.

Last Wednesday (September 27), two days after she had chemo, Linda revealed she “went to London for a photoshoot with other women” for the Pink Ribbon Foundation, to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She said it was “such an amazing day” but knows she “overdid it”.

Linda added: “I got home close to midnight and all I could do was sleep the next day. Yes, I’ve overdone it. I know I need to be more careful.”

‘I have Angela Rippon’s eyebrows’

Elsewhere, Linda revealed that Strictly contestant Angela Rippon has inspired her new look.

“I have Angela Rippon’s eyebrows. Naturally I wish I had her legs, too, but that’s another matter. Eyebrows are a frontline defence in the fight against Mr Potato Head when you lose your hair, and so I got mine tattooed for the first time in 2014, and yes, asked for Angela’s. Hers were the eyebrows of my dreams,” she said.

She also added that watching Strictly is “so uplifting” and added that “it’s the perfect medicine if you’re feeling a bit low”.

Linda also revealed that she tried to recreate some of Angela’s dance floor moves at her best pal’s 60th this week and even said that, in the moment, she “kind of forgot I had cancer”.

Loose Women have confirmed a major show shake-up next week to honour late panellist Lynda Bellingham OBE.

Actress Lynda sadly died in October 2014, after being diagnosed with colorectal cancer. She was a regular and firm favourite on Loose Women, appearing from 2007 to 2011.

And next week, the show will pay tribute and honour “brilliant” Lynda with a special episode.

The news of the Loose Women shakeup was confirmed during Friday’s episode (October 11). Back on the panel were Kaye Adams, Judi Love, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore.

While speaking to actress Julie Graham, the conversation soon turned to the late Lynda – with Julie praising her as “brilliant.”

Kaye then informed viewers that Loose Women will remember Lynda next week. The show is planning a special episode featuring members of her family on Wednesday (October 16).

Brave Lynda shot to fame after appearing in the famed Oxo television advert, and enjoyed a successful acting career.

In 2013, she was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, which later metastasised to her lungs and liver, giving her “months to live.”

Chemo followed but after finding the cancer had spread Lynda decided to stop the treatment.

She had battled colon cancer for more than a year when she passed away in October 2014. She died “in her husband’s arms”, according to her agent Sue Latimer.

Lynda’s last Loose Women interview

During her final Loose Women appearance in 2014, Lynda opened up about how she was coming to terms with her illness and eventual death.

“You do feel alone and it is very hard to take on board. It’s taken us a year to absorb it,” she shared. Lynda went on: “But once you do, instead of worrying about dying, you must enjoy the bits in between.”

Lynda Bellingham’s son on Loose Women

Loose Women paid tribute to Lynda in 2020 by inviting her son Michael onto the show and playing an emotional montage of the TV presenter.

After watching the clip, Ruth Langsford said: “It’s quite hard watching that because we were all friends with your mum.”

Michelle McManus revealed the truth behind her drastic nine-stone weight loss on Good Morning Britain.

The Pop Idol champion, 44, shut down rumours of using the controversial weight loss drug Ozempic or having surgery.

She told Rob Rinder, 46, and Kate Garraway, 57, the key to her success after failed diets over the years has been a life coach and weight training.

Michelle McManus’ secret to her nine-stone weight loss

The Scot said: “I started to try and lose weight. All these diets I hear are amazing. But the more I was trying to lose weight, the more I was gaining weight.

“I was looking at myself in the mirror and I should be thinking, ‘This body has given you two kids.’ But I was really miserable.

“It isn’t about what the scales say. It’s not about the label that’s on your clothing, it’s finding that moment where you can look at yourself in the mirror and say, ‘I really like you.’”

The mum – who has sons Harry, four, and Nicholas, two, – met life coach Liza Hardingbuck, and they devised a plan and began weight training and swimming – with her now losing nine stone.

BBC Radio Scotland’s afternoon presenter did not know of her big transformation until she wanted to get a new photo for her BBC staff card.

She had considered surgery but the fear about the side effects and going under the knife put her off.

The 44-year-old turned to a calorie deficit diet instead. This involves consuming fewer calories than your body burns.

I started weight training, I started swimming.

Michelle added: “I looked into surgery, but that really heightened my anxiety because what if I was to die? Then I revisited calorie deficit.

“I started weight training, I started swimming. Totally changed my relationship with food and then slowly but surely… I actually lost the weight a while ago.

“Then I was getting new pictures for my lanyard for the BBC and they showed me my old picture and I don’t think I realised how far I’d come.”

Michelle said she then decided to “put myself back out there” on social media.

She’s looking fab!

The injury forced him out of last Saturday’s live show and is throwing doubt on his performance this weekend.

His knee injury came just days after he damaged his shoulder whilst changing a car tyre. Now, it’s unclear if Nick will be able to dance on tomorrow night’s show.

According to reports, a decision will be made on Nick‘s future on the show today (October 11).

A source has told the Mirror: “The plan is to rehearse today and Friday and then a final decision will be made about Saturday evening. He is going to try and do the routine he’d already learned for Movie Week.

“It’s unfortunate it’s a Charleston because it’s very hard to do without lots of knee action, but there is no alternative. Everyone has their fingers crossed for him.”

ED! has contacted reps for Nick and Strictly for comment.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Nick updated his followers on his condition.

He said: “I am behind the scenes at It Takes Two and the good news is that the physios have cleared me to train tomorrow.

“That’s not an all clear for Saturday yet, so I have to see how I can get on tomorrow and then a decision will be made on Friday.”

During his It Takes Two appearance, Nick said: “Each day it gets a little bit better. On Friday it looked pretty bad to be honest. It felt bad. Saturday, not so good but I had a scan and we decided that after a look at that we would wait until Monday and. Monday, a little bit stronger.
