Katya hits back as Nigel Harman admits he’s ‘blagging it’

Strictly pro Katya Jones and her dance partner Nigel Harman are fast becoming firm favourites on the BBC dance show and it’s clear their bond reaches further than just the dance floor as the pair have been teasing each other backstage, too.

During Tuesday (October 3) night’s It Takes Two, Nigel and Katya discussed their weekend dance with host Fleur East.

The pair performed a Viennese waltz to the tune of Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez and picked up 27 points from the judges.

But Shirley Ballas came under fire for her harsh critique of the routine. One fan asked: “Why was Shirley so nasty and brutal with Nigel?”

Strictly: Nigel Harman admits he doesn’t know what he’s doing

However, on It Takes Two, actor Nigel said he thought that Shirley’s judgement – and score of six – was a “gift”.

The former EastEnders star explained: “In week one I was doing the paso and when we had judges comments it was like being at a really good party and everyone was really happy. And then week two I turned up to the same party and this time they didn’t like me as much! So that was a bit of a reality check. But it actually is a bit of a gift. Because technically I don’t really know what I’m doing, so I’m making it up and trying to blag my way through.”

No no! Can I rephrase it? I would be nothing without Katya.

At this point Strictly pro Katya jumped in, joking: “That makes me sound really incompetent in my job.”

Nigel insisted: “No no! Can I rephrase it? I would be nothing without Katya.”

Katya: “Nigel gave me acting lessons”

In spite of Shirley’s critique, the pair are definitely doing well on the hit BBC One show.

In fact, Nigel and Katya are current front-runners to lift the Glitterball trophy, pipping former fave Bobby Brazier to the top spot.

Chatting on It Takes Two, Katya revealed that Nigel’s been sharing some tips of his own during training. Katya said: “I must say having a director as my other 50% of this partnership has been really interesting. So we have worked together on this [waltz] really deeply, and thought every single detail of the story of this couple. He did give me acting lessons. Apparently you have to look with your opposite eye to the other side? It makes you look a bit weird.”

Katya added: “There was a lot of discussion about where’s the balance between acting and dancing. I kept obviously saying, it’s a dance competition we must dance more. And you were adamant we had to act. I feel like we eventually found a balanced middle.”

Nigel said: “We got round to the dancing eventually. You know when you’re on safe ground? I was like: ‘Let’s just do acting for a day!’ Much less sweaty.”

Katya even said that she had wanted their waltz to look like butter melting on hot toast, but joked to Nigel: “When you were learning it was like beans on toast.”

Katie Price insists she won’t ‘be letting son Harvey suffer’

Katie Price has insisted she won’t be letting her son Harvey Price “suffer” as he’s forced out of his residential college.

According to reports, funding for Harvey’s residential care will stop due to claims he has “no healthcare issues”.

Katie has claimed that an assessor has decided that Harvey “only needs social care”.

Katie’s eldest son Harvey, whom she shares with professional footballer Dwight Yorke, is blind, autistic, has septo-optic dysplasia and a learning disability. Harvey also has Prader-Willi syndrome, a genetic disorder.

In March, Katie revealed that Harvey has to leave National Star College in Gloucester as “West Sussex Council wouldn’t fund him”.

Katie has since given an update on her The Katie Price Show podcast. She told her listeners: “The socials came back yesterday, the people who do the funding, and they believe by seeing Harvey that Harvey has no healthcare issues. That he only needs social care. They think he has no health problems so they’re not funding, and want him to live in a social care place.

“So now obviously the doctors and all that are good with me. He has a passport for the hospital. He’s on medicine to keep him alive. He is cortisol deficient so can go into adrenaline crisis at any time.

I will not be letting Harvey suffer but it looks like he will be coming home.

“If he’s ill he ends up in hospital, what are they on about? Anyone out there if you’re in a situation like me, like everyone knows Harvey has healthcare issues, it’s been documented and I’ve done documentaries on it, but they just think it’s behaviour.

“I’m like ‘are you kidding me?’, and I’m now having to appeal. Even his social worker from West Sussex is like ‘you need to appeal it.’ They disagree with it. It’s all because of money.

“I will not be letting Harvey suffer but it looks like he will be coming home. Not home, I mean a place nearer me, up the road. He won’t be able to stay at college after Christmas.”

According to the MailOnline, West Sussex County Council told them: “This was a decision taken by NHS Gloucestershire.”

ED! has contacted West Sussex County Council and NHS Gloucestershire for further comment.

The glamour model was Harvey’s primary caregiver up until he turned 19 years of age. However, since 2021, Harvey has lived at National Star College in Gloucestershire.

Last month, reports claimed that Katie Price’s £2million home, dubbed Mucky Mansion, was repossessed by court bailiffs, amid claims she had been made bankrupt for the second time.

Dawn should move out of Home Farm, fans beg

In last night’s episode of Emmerdale (Thursday, July 11), Kim took the blame for Billy’s irresponsible actions after baby Evan’s recent hospital dash.

Dawn took it out on Kim and told her to stay away as she’d put her baby’s life at risk by going to a hotel bar.

Emmerdale fans have now turned things around and have failed to defend Dawn during her recent outburst towards Kim.

Emmerdale: Kim protected Billy from Dawn

Recently in the Dales, Billy was struggling to please Dawn and decided to leave Home Farm for a drink or two with Nate.

He’d aimed to keep a social distance from Nate but ended up getting rather drunk. Kim realised that he’d broken Dawn’s rules and covered for him, sending him to bed in the spare room.

Last night, Billy almost confessed the truth to Dawn after Evan was rushed to hospital. He’d developed a cough and Billy felt to blame.

However, Kim then stepped in and told Dawn that she’d been the one to break their bubble. She’d gone to a hotel bar and broken the rules.

Dawn was livid and took her anger out on Kim, blasting her for leaving her own home.

Emmerdale fans blast Dawn over latest Kim outburst

Emmerdale viewers have been quick to slam Dawn for confining Kim to her own home. Kim can do as she pleases and if Dawn isn’t happy with it, she can find somewhere else to live. Home Farm is Kim’s house after all.

One fan complained: “If you’re not happy Dawn, why don’t you [bleep] off & find your own house?”

Another person added: “Dawn talking to Kim like that, under her own roof. Move out and take your scrounging [bleep] of a mother with you.”

A third viewer finished: “Well Dawn, why don’t you move out on your own? You will soon want help… drama queen!”

What’s next for Dawn in Home Farm?

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale (Friday, July 12), will see Dawn forget Clemmie’s birthday after being so pre-occupied with baby Evan at the hospital.

Rose then steps in to save the day and puts together a last minute party for Clemmie. However, Kim’s not impressed that she wasn’t invited to the do. Will this just make things worse between Dawn and Kim?

Birds of a Feather star Pauline Quirke lost eight stone in year

Birds of a Feather star Pauline Quirke was once forced to lose eight stone in a year.

The star’s dramatic weight loss came following a series of worrying health issues…

Birds of a Feather star Pauline Quirke on losing eight stone in a year

During an interview with The Yorkshire Post back in 2012, Pauline opened up about losing eight stone in the space of 12 months.

In 2011, Birds of a Feather star Pauline had been at 20 stone. However, a year on, she was at 12 stone.

“I remember trying on something that was a size 14 and it was too big. I thought I’d gone far enough. I never wanted to push this to the extreme. It was about being healthy and feeling well. I’d like to stay between 12 and 12 1/2 stone. Every week I’ll weigh myself just to keep an eye on it,” she said at the time.

The star then went on to explain that a hip replacement, aching knee joints and a fall which broke her arm were catalysts for her losing weight.

“Steve [her husband and agent] knew I was upset about the hip. He could see me getting bigger and bigger. Professionally and personally I was very happy, but the hip was the beginning of it,” she said.

Feeling constantly tired, feeling unhealthy, and difficulty managing day-to-day events led to Pauline falling into an all-time low.

To lose weight, Pauline followed the controversial LighterLife diet, which saw her not eat normal food for eight months.

Pauline’s controversial diet

The LighterLife diet saw normal meals substituted for low calorie packs of powder mixed with water.

Pauline didn’t eat a normal meal for eight months, however, she lost seven stone in that time.

The now 65-year-old actress was confident that she wouldn’t put the weight back on after counselling helped her change her attitude towards food.

She also added that she wouldn’t be having surgery to remove any loose skin left by her weight loss.

“I’m 52 – it was never going to all ping back. I won’t be doing bikini shoots in the near future but it’s not as bad as one would have imagined,” she said.
