India all-rounder Hardik Pandya missed the plane to New York as the first batch of the Indian team’s players flew across the continents for the T20 World Cup 2024. Hardik’s absence from the first batch of players intensified the speculations around his personal life, with rumours suggesting all is not well between him and his wife Natasa Stankovic. As the couple continues to maintain silence on the ‘divorce rumours’, a report has suggested that Hardik has flown to an undisclosed overseas location for a vacation. He will join the Indian team directly in New York.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, Hardik flew out of the country after Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 campaign ended. With the aim of revitalising himself after a stressful campaign in the T20 league, Hardik decided to vacation for a week or so at an undisclosed overseas location. However, he is expected to join the team in time for the first practice session in New York.

Hardik has been a man in the headlines before the start of the IPL 2024 season. The Mumbai Indians’ decision to replace Rohit Sharma with Hardik as the captain of the franchise didn’t go down well with fans, with the latter facing severe criticism in the form of jeers whenever he stepped into the stadium.

As a result of the negativity that infected the Mumbai Indians camp, the franchise finished bottom of the 10-team standings, with all-rounder Hardik proving to be lackluster in all departments of the game.

“A lot of the stuff that he’s going through is, personally, maybe a little uncalled for. It’ll certainly be a learning curve for Hardik as his growth in leadership. While times are tough now, a couple of things will pass and it’ll make him a tougher leader and it’ll certainly grow him in the role as well,” Mumbai Indians coach Mark Boucher has said in a press conference after MI played their last game on May 17.

Hardik is the designated vice-captain of the team for the T20 World Cup which takes place from June 01-29 in the US and West Indies.

“God’s Plan Bro Yo Baby”: Shah Rukh Khan’s Crazy Celebration With Rinku Singh After IPL Triumph

Published

Seeing Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday, one would have hardly believed that this man was hospitalised a few days back due to heat stroke. Maybe Kolkata Knight Riders’ spirited display against SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 final in Chennai in Sunday was a reason behind it. KKR topped the league stage and then showed absolute domination to cling their third IPL title in style. SRH was no match for KKR as they could manage just 113 which the latter chased down with more than nine overs to spare.

After the win, KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan celebrated the title triumph with his players. But one particular celebration went viral which has Rinku Singh. In the celebration, both Khan and Singh can be heard saying repeatedly: “God’s Plan yo baby”.

Following his side’s third Indian Premier League (IPL) title win, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowling coach Bharat Arun lauded pacers Harshit Rana and Mitchell Starc for their performances in the season, calling the latter as the “best bowler in the world”.

An all-round performance from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), including fiery spells by Mitchell Starc and Andre Russell and a half-century by Venkatesh Iyer, helped the Purple and Gold side secure their third Indian Premier League (IPL) title and their first in 10 years as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets on Sunday at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium.

Following the game, Bharat told broadcasters, “He (Harshit) has been outstanding. It is about backing your strengths. [On Starc] I think Mitch coming into the team boosted the confidence of other youngsters in the side. He is probably the best bowler in the world. Once he understood the Indian conditions, he was excellent.”

Harshit was the fourth-highest wicket-taker this season. The 22-year-old took 19 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 20.15, with the best figures of 3/24. Starc also did well for KKR. The big buy of the franchise, worth Rs 24.75 crores and the most expensive IPL player ever, picked up momentum in the back end of the tournament. In the playoffs stage, when the team needed him to be at his best the most, Starc picked up five wickets across the qualifier one and final, including a three-fer in the qualifier one against SRH.

Bharat was also full of praise for spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine. He also said that sending Narine to open the batting was mentor Gautam Gambhir‘s idea and it paid huge dividends as it added more dimensions to the team’s batting.

“Spinners mature with age, and with Sunny and Varun bowling in tandem, it was superb. [On Narine the batter] He brought a totally different dimension to our batting. It was Gautam who insisted that he opened and it paid dividends. It is a great night and now it is time to celebrate.”

“Will Come Back Harder”: SRH Assistant Coach After IPL 2024 Final Heartbreak

Published

on

By

After conceding an 8-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) assistant coach Simon Helmot hoped that they would come back harder in the next season of the tournament. KKR lifted their third title under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer after thumping Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the tournament by 8 wickets win. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Helmot accepted that the middle order of their batting lineup failed to score many runs.

He also gave credit to the Kolkata-based franchise for playing an aggressive brand of cricket.

“Whether it’s pace or spin, Travis Head is experienced in playing left-arm pace, he played them well over his journey. We had a lot of good games when Abhishek and Head scored runs and obviously we didn’t get as much from the middle order as we would have liked at times. Credit to KKR, they had a great season. They won 70 per cent of the games. They played an aggressive brand of cricket. We will come back harder next season,” Helmot said.

The SRH assistant coach added that they won’t be changing their approach or brand of cricket in the upcoming days.

“Firstly, we are not going to change our brand or approach. I think we played in a really positive way. The two wickets at the start put us on the back foot, we just lacked those partnerships,” he added.

Helmot praised the opponents for being a very aggressive team. He further added that SRH skipper Pat Cummins and head coach Daniel Vettori are supportive of the players.

“They are a very aggressive team. We could have played a little bit better. I am tremendously proud of the players. Pat Cummins and Daniel Vettori are really supportive of the players that we want to give people the encouragement to go out and express themselves. Tonight (The loss in the IPL 2024 final) will be a big learning curve for the individuals,” he further added.

KKR clinched the IPL 2024 title with a dominating all-round performance against SRH in the final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Their third title celebrations began at the same ground Chepauk where they lifted their maiden title in 2012 under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir.

They scripted an encore to lift their third trophy. The KKR bowlers left the Sunrisers dumbstruck to restrict the free-scoring SRH batting line-up to 113. In reply, KKR chased down in only 10.3 overs with eight wickets in hand.
