Naga Munchetty’s interview with Strictly 2023 star branded ‘unwatchable’
BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty and her co-host Charlie Stayt were joined by a pair from Strictly 2023 on today’s show.
Naga and Charlie interviewed Jowita Przystal and her celebrity partner Jody Cundy about this season.
The hosting duo are known for their playful presenting style and back-and-forth. However, the Strictly interview today (Thursday, September 28) divided viewers.
Jowita and Jody sat on the iconic BBC Breakfast sofa to talk about their hopes of winning the Glitterball trophy.
Jody shared the challenges of dancing with a prosthetic leg and the similarities and differences between Strictly and the Paralympics. However, talk soon turned to Jowita’s 2022 win – and how Jody matches up…
Naga probes Strictly 2023 stars
“This is probably an unfair question but I’ll ask it anyway,” said Naga. “How does he compare to how Hamza was in the early days?”
Shutting down the question, Jowita replied: “I cannot compare them because they’re two different people and I will never do that. I said it’s a new book, new page and we’re riding it together and there’s no on else there. It’s just me and Jodi and I’m focused on Jodi because our journey is now and here just us together.”
Charlie then chipped in and replied: “A very diplomatic answer.” Naga wasn’t leaving it there, though, and added: “Although Jody will ask you over and over again: ‘Am I as good?’ Well, I would anyway.”
Viewers react
BBC Breakfast viewers commented that Naga left the Strictly couple little time to answer or finish their answers, and often talked over them. One even took to Twitter and urged her to “stop”.
One disgruntled viewer said: “When will @TVNaga01 realise that if she talks/shouts over what an interviewee is saying, we the viewers do not understand what anyone is saying. Please stop it Naga.”
“Absolutely unwatchable with you presenting, you’re so stilted, you’re not a natural,” another commented.
A third said: “What a stupid and rude question! No one should be compared to anyone. Both are very different people with different strengths and weaknesses.”
Naga herself appeared on Strictly in 2016, partnered with Pasha Kovalev but was voted out in week four.

Naga’s interview style called into question previously
Naga’s to-the-point interviewing has ruffled some guests and viewers before. Last month, she really had to work to get an answer from Energy Minister Andrew Bowie when discussing Ofgem news surrounding the latest energy price cap.
Some spectators called it a “car crash interview.” However, Naga stayed on track for the interview, stating she was asking the questions for viewers.

Luba Mushtuk shuts down rumours of complaint about Nick Knowles’ ‘clingy’ fiancée
Strictly star Nick Knowles returned to the dancefloor last night (October 12) after a week off with an injury.
The DIY SOS star and his pro partner Luba Mushtuk performed their Movie Week Charleston, scoring a disappointing 21 points with the judges.
Some Strictly viewers also expressed concern for Nick during the live show, saying that he “needs to go home before he does any more damage”.
However, the morning after the night before, Nick and Luba are hitting the headlines for an altogether different reason.
Strictly news: Claims of training room struggles for Nick and Luba
According to a source in The Sun, Luba expressed concerns that Nick’s fiancée Katie Dadzie had been spending too much time at rehearsals with the pair. As a result, it was claimed that Luba was finding it difficult to teach the DIY SOS host.
The source alleged: “Luba found the constant interruptions exasperating because she felt it was disturbing their training and routine. It was starting to affect how Luba could teach, given that she felt Katie’s eyes on her when they were in close holds.
“Luba is a complete professional but no one can deny that it is awkward having your partner’s girlfriend in the room. Katie seems to be very clingy to Nick.”

Luba and the Beeb hit back at ‘completely false’ claims
However, Luba’s reps have furiously denied the claims, hitting back with a statement.
“This story is completely false. There was never any complaint made,” they told ED! today (October 13).
The BBC also stepped in to shut down concerns with its own statement.
“Any claim that there has been a complaint is categorically untrue. There have been no such complaints made to anyone, so these assertions are completely false,” it said.

Vernon Kay on relationship rule he follows with Tess Daly to avoid things becoming ‘difficult’
Vernon Kay previously revealed how he makes his romance with his wife Tess Daly work.
Telly favourite Vernon – who is back on screens today (October 13) M&S Dress The Nation – and Tess have been together for more than two decades. The pair first met in the 2000s and have gone from strength to strength, and now share daughters Phoebe and Amber together.
And it turns out there’s a very simple reason that they have managed to remain happily together for such a long period of time…
Vernon Kay on rule he follows with Tess Daly
In 2023, Vernon was quizzed about his romance with Strictly host Tess. The TV star went on to share how it’s important to be honest and open with your significant other.
“Intimacy is not just being in bed and making love. Intimacy stretches to all aspects of life. The best thing you can do is just talk to each other — put the kettle on and chat,” he told The Sun at the time.
“Sometimes you have to bite your tongue, but you’ve also got to come out with stuff that’s bothering you because when you don’t, that’s when it festers and grows, and things become more difficult. Communication is key.”
Vernon Kay and Tess Daly ‘sit and talk’
Vernon then reflected on his own father’s piece of advice when it comes to romance and love. He said: “My dad always taught me never to go to bed on an argument, and my parents both said: ‘Put the kettle on, have a brew, and sit and talk.’ That’s your couples’ therapy right there — and it’s free.”
Vernon says Tess is the boss
In 2022, Vernon opened up about his life with Tess and admitted “communication” is the key to a happy relationship.
“There’s no secret. No kind of golden highway. The key is – and I know this sounds really lame – keep talking,” he told The Mirror. Vernon added: “Communication is the key to everything.”
The star, who has presented This Morning, also went on to joke that Tess is the one who wears the trousers in the relationship. He said: “Tess is the boss. I say jokingly. We all know our role in the family. It just works perfectly.”
Watch Vernon on M&S: Dress The Nation on Sunday (October 13) at 12.45pm on ITV1.

Tess Daly called out as she asks Craig Revel Horwood to repeat Dr Punam Krishan criticism
Last night’s Strictly Come Dancing saw host Tess Daly come under fire as she innocently asked Craig Revel Horwood to repeat his comments towards Dr Punam Krishan.
Dr Punam and her pro partner Gorka Marquez danced the jive to Lizzo’s 2 Be Loved last night (October 12).
However, the judges – in particular Craig – didn’t love it. He handed out a scathing criticism. But, due to the noise in the studio, host Tess told the judge that she didn’t hear his final remark, and asked him to repeat it.
‘Not your night, I’m afraid’
After the couple had danced the jive, Tess asked the judges for their verdict.
Craig told Dr Punam and Gorka: “I thought it was really sloppy, messy, full of mistakes.”
“Listen, I liked it,” said Anton Du Beke. “Not your night, I’m afraid,” Craig added as the audience let out a disappointed sigh.
Strictly host Tess Daly ‘wishes she hadn’t heard’ Craig’s comment
Presenter Tess then revealed she hadn’t heard the judge’s final comment. Tess said: “Sorry Craig, I missed what you said at the end.”
“Er, not your night I’m afraid darling,” he repeated. “Rather wish I hadn’t heard it,” Tess replied. “But we all loved it, didn’t we, ladies and gentlemen. We loved it.”
Viewers react
Fans watching at home slammed the moment, as some branded it “cruel”. Others questioned why Tess asked for Craig’s comment to be repeated.
“Tess making Craig say Punam did bad TWICE, oh that’s just CRUEL,” one wrote. “Why did Tess not hear Craig and then ask what he said? That was weird. You’re the presenter!” blasted another.
A third commented: “Not Tess getting Craig to repeat ‘Not your night’ twice.”
A fourth chimed in, joking: “The evil Tess making Craig repeat the most scathing review the show has ever heard in its existence.”
“Tess nobody cares that you didn’t hear it – why’d you have to make him say it again?” another wound-up viewer commented.
Gorka and Dr Punam scored just 20 points last night. So will the viewers step up to save them from the dreaded dance-off tonight?
