Who’s dead in The Queen Vic?

The EastEnders Christmas murder mystery has frankly been all we’ve been talking about for months – and it’s not even happened yet!

Back in February, we were all gripped by the flashforward episode, that gave us a glimpse into Christmas 2023. We saw the women who have become known as The Six gathered round a body on the floor of The Vic.

Stacey, Suki, Linda, Kathy and Denise watched as Sharon – in a wedding dress – crouched down beside the unseen corpse, lifted his wrist – showing some cufflinks – and announced: “He’s dead.”

Since then we’ve all been chatting non-stop about who the victim is – especially as those very cufflinks have been making their way round the men of Albert Square.

There are all sorts of theories being bandied around about who the unfortunate dead fella could be. So we thought we’d round them all up.

Who’s dead in the EastEnders Christmas murder?

Could Nish be the murder victim? (Credit: BBC)

Nish Panesar

He’s the obvious choice, right? Nish is pretty damn evil, he’s cold, abusive, and downright dangerous. He’s got on the wrong side of Linda, Sharon, Denise and – of course – his tormented wife, Suki. No one would be sorry to see him gone. But is he a bit too obvious? Maybe!

Is Ravi right to look worried? (Credit: BBC)

Ravi Gulati

Another too obvious option? Perhaps! Ravi’s also a cold-hearted villain. He’s also annoyed the women, especially Suki – whose son Kheerat is serving life for a murder Ravi committed. Could she strike out in revenge? And let’s not forget the way he’s treated Denise and her daughter Chelsea. He’s ripe for retribution! Though the news that his family will soon be arriving in Walford makes us think that perhaps he’s not the victim after all.

Jack Branning

Yes, he’s a bit shouty and annoying, he’s not always the best dad, he’s made poor Denise’s life a misery after her – ahem – indiscretion with Ravi and he’s generally just a bit rubbish. But does he deserve to die? Perhaps not. Is he likely to die? Also not. And though he did have the cufflinks for a while, he’s passed them on… to Phil Mitchell

Phil Mitchell

One of the biggest mysteries about the flash forward episode is who Sharon is marrying. Is it Keanu? From where we are right now that doesn’t seem possible – after all, the pair are barely talking! It’s definitely not Phil because he’s just tied the knot with Kat. We’re stumped. Anyway, that’s a long-winded way of saying it totally could be Phil’s body on the floor but we reckon that’s not happening. Mostly because Shaz would have been WAY more upset than she was if it was Phil. Yes, he’s got the cufflinks now – but for how long?!

Will Theo get his comeuppance at Christmas? (Credit: BBC)

Theo Hawthorne

There’s no shortage of awful men in Albert Square right now, is there? One of them is undoubtedly creepy Theo Hawthorne, who’s been stalking poor Stacey. Theo has now moved in next door to keep up his campaign of terror, leaving poor Stace in bits every time she leaves the house. He’s definitely on the list of potential victims, there’s no doubt about it. But remember Stacey was the one who killed Archie Mitchell in another legendary Enders whodunnit. Could history repeat itself?

Are Martin’s days numbered? (Credit: BBC)

Martin Fowler

Rumours are rife that the dead man is actually all-round nice chap and devoted dad, Martin Fowler. WHAT? No! Surely not?! But the internet is buzzing with theories that Martin and Theo come to blows over the Christmas festivities and it’s Martin who ends up dead on the floor. We’re not sure what we think about this except, we absolutely don’t want this to happen. Nope.

Dean Wicks is a cracking EastEnders villain (Credit: BBC)
Is Dean Wicks coming back to die?! (Credit: BBC)

Dean Wicks

In the episode that included the flash forward, Linda was upset because she’d spotted her rapist Dean in a photo shared by her mother-in-law, Shirley (remember Dean is Shirley’s son, though Ms Carter had disowned him after his actions). That little moment seems too important to brush off as a coincidence. Was it the biggest clue yet as to the identity of our corpse? Could Dean Wicks return to Albert Square to be murdered? There’s even a theory that Gina Knight’s mean ex-boyfriend could actually be Deano. We like that. We like that a lot…

Hello? Is that the grim reaper? (Credit: BBC)

Ian Beale

We have to be honest, we’d not be totally distraught if Ian ended up being the dead body on the floor of The Vic. It’s actually quite a good ending for such a legendary character, who’s wronged just about everyone in Albert Square in his time in Walford. But though we totally buy Sharon having another go at bumping off her ex-husband, we’re not sure why any of the rest of The Six – including Ian’s mum, Kathy – would want him dead.

Is it going to be a Rocky Christmas? (Credit: BBC)

Rocky Cotton

We know Brian Conley’s waving farewell to Walford soon, but does this mean he’s more or less likely to be the body on the floor? We can’t help thinking it would all be a bit…easy? But stranger things have happened.

Jay Brown

Some viewers think that because there is a photograph of Lola on the bar in the flashforward it’s a clue that bereaved Jay will be the Christmas victim. Plus Jamie Borthwick, who plays poor Jay, dropped a big clue recently by saying he was available for work! Does that mean he’s on his way out of Walford?! We’re not convinced. Of course some characters suffer with misery heaped upon misery (hard stare at Whitney) but we think there’s different torment in Jay’s future. Watch this space.

Sharon’s currently being wooed by boxing promoter Dorian who’s desperate to recruit her to run a gym in Abu Dhabi. We’re not convinced he’s being entirely truthful about the many fabulous opportunities open to Shaz out there, but that in itself doesn’t make him a potential murder victim. In fact, the only thing that puts him in the running in our opinion is that we really can’t see the point of him otherwise.

Unless he’s Sharon’s future groom! Could happen!

Eamonn Holmes is reportedly taking his split with Ruth Langsford hard, according to a friend.

The TV veterans shared they were going their separate ways last month after 14 years of marriage.

The former couple, who share son Jack, have largely kept quiet on the split. However, Eamonn’s pal and Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson has had his say on their divorce – and his words imply that Eamonn hasn’t taken it well.

Charlie Lawson speaks out on Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford split

Charlie and Eamonn have been close friends for years, with Eamonn even officiating his wedding in 2023. So it’s not much of a surprise that the Jim McDonald actor speaks kindly of the broadcaster.

Discussing Eamonn’s split from Ruth, Charlie told The Sun on Sunday: “I’ve known Eamonn for a very long time and we spoke a couple of days ago.

“He’s doing his best to get through it.”

They’re finding it very difficult. He’s a very good friend. I love him dearly.

He continued: “Splitting up is always difficult and if you are in the public eye, and these two are both extremely famous, it’s extremely difficult. They’re finding it very difficult. He’s a very good friend. I love him dearly. They’ll get through it.”

Ruth Langsford news

Meanwhile, Ruth is reportedly being comforted by a familiar face. Ruth has apparently turned to Lisa Armstrong, the ex-wife of Ant McPartlin.

Lisa has also endured a break-up in the public eye, after splitting up with her husband of 11 years, Ant. Although Lisa’s split was back in in 2018, she is often featured in headlines. Especially in recent weeks, after Ant welcomed his first child with his wife Anne-Marie.

Fortunately, Lisa has been the ideal shoulder to cry on, according to a source. A source alleged to OK!: “Ruth is getting more and more angry about Eamonn’s new ‘relationship’ and feels very betrayed and hurt.

“She can’t believe that Eamonn is doing this so publicly and it feels like he’s trying to rub her face in it as some form of payback for Ruth ending the marriage. And as well as this ‘relationship’, she was upset to find out that a mutual friend had been consoling Eamonn and is worried she is being painted as the bad guy.”

It comes after reports claimed that Eamonn has grew close a relationship counsellor.

ED! has contacted reps of Ruth and Eamonn for comment.

James Chase praised by fans after violent Tom scenes

Emmerdale fans have praised actor James Chase for his portrayal of Tom King after the villain nearly lost his life in harrowing scenes, which aired in Monday’s (June 24) episode.

Fans of the ITV soap have branded James a ‘great actor’ on social media. This comes after his character was left unconscious following a violent outburst.

Emmerdale: Tom is electrocuted

Emmerdale viewers know that Tom has been abusing and controlling his new wife Belle behind closed doors. But she is in denial about what is going on.

The couple’s marriage has continued to go from bad to worse. However after Belle found out she was pregnant, things have spiralled even more. Having started to come to terms with the reality of her situation, Belle told Tom she’d had a miscarriage. But she’d actually made the decision to have an abortion.

When Tom found out about the termination, he headed to the barn. He then smashed everything up with an iron bar in a fit of rage.

His final swing proved to be disastrous however, as he started to lose strength and hit the rotary isolator, resulting in him being electrocuted. Tom could then be seen lying on the floor unconscious in the barn at the end of the dramatic scenes.

Emmerdale fans praise Tom actor James Chase

Emmerdale fans were treated to a sneak peek behind the scenes in a new Instagram post from the ITV soap. Viewers were given a look into how Tom’s accident was orchestrated in a new clip.

Actor James talked soap fans through what he had to do in the scenes. This prompted many to praise his acting skills and overall portrayal of Tom, despite some not wanting the character to survive.

“Although a harrowing storyline. He is a great actor and Tom and Belle are playing this storyline out amazingly well. Scared for Belle,” one Emmerdale fan commented.

A second soap viewer added: “You’re a great actor. Well done both of you. Never easy playing a villain for the backlash but well done.”

“Amazing episode this evening, difficult viewing for some people I can only imagine but brilliantly acted,” another Emmerdale fan said.

Emmerdale star Jurell Carter to leave soap, reports claim

In Emmerdale this year, Nate has seen his marriage with Tracy break down.

He then sought to get revenge on his uncle Caleb, who had been having an affair with Tracy.

However, it appears there will be no happy ending for Nate and Tracy as The Sun has now reported that Jurell Carter, who plays Nate Robinson, has quit the soap and will exit in dramatic scenes.

Emmerdale star Nate Robinson ‘quits’

Nate arrived in the Dales in 2019 and immediately ruffled feathers when he embarked on an affair with Moira Dingle.

A major twist then confirmed that Nate was in fact the estranged son of Moira’s husband Cain Dingle, and seducing Moira was just an act of revenge for Nate after feeling neglected by his father.

Nate went on to make up with his dad and settled down in the village. He married Tracy last year before that relationship came crashing down following her affair with Caleb.

There will be no reconciliation on the cards as The Sun say Nate is set for a dramatic exit.

Nate set for explosive Emmerdale exit

The tabloid report that a big exit is being planned for Nate later this year.

“Nate has been at the centre of some huge storylines and his exit will be no different,” a source told the publication.

“It will be dramatic and explosive and will go down in Emmerdale history. It won’t be one to miss.

“Jurell has loved being on the soap but he’s a young actor and it’s understandable he wants to spread his wings.

“Five years is a good run but he feels it’s time.”

Emmerdale has been contacted for comment.

Emmerdale usually airs on weekdays at 7.30pm, with an hour long episode on Thursdays.
